Cooperstown Environmental is pleased to announce that Simon Rands has joined the company as Project Geologist. Simon graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Geology in May and joined Cooperstown this Fall.
Simon, a Somerville resident, previously worked as a Sustainability Intern in Woodstock, New York, supporting conservation goals of the Woodstock Land Conservancy through stewardship of protected lands and public trails, native and invasive species management, volunteer coordination, and land acquisition efforts.
At Cooperstown Environmental, Simon’s duties include field work such as soil, groundwater, and air sampling; drilling and well installation oversight; site assessments; and surveying. He also contributes to Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) environmental report writing, historical site review, and contaminant delineation.
Outside of the office, Simon loves to spend his time outdoors hiking or hammocking in New Hampshire or in the Fells, playing soccer, watching sports, listening to music, reading, drawing, and learning piano.
