Lauren Kinney

Lauren integrates her environmental geography and public health backgrounds to provide expertise on environmental consulting tasks including risk assessments, vapor intrusion, and toxicity evaluations under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan  (MCP), California EPA (CALEPA), Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP), and other state programs as well as Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).  Lauren’s work includes the evaluation and management of data, the identification of constituents of potential concern, the performance of statistical analyses, the assessment of exposure, the evaluation and derivation of toxicity data, and the calculation of risks and site-specific risk based cleanup goals. 

She has conducted risk assessments for a variety of site types, including gas stations, dry cleaners, petroleum distribution terminals, active research laboratories, and jewelry manufacturers. Lauren has developed targeted sampling programs to guide remedial actions based on risk drivers and has given presentations summarizing complex toxicological information for use by non-technical parties. 

Lauren also provides technical assistance in support of litigation, including cost allocation among potential responsible parties (PRPs) based upon both the toxicity and mass of chemical contaminants, calculation of the net present value (NPV) of environmental remediation costs, and the preparation of tables and flow-charts to present complex data, calculations, and regulatory processes.

Lauren received a B.A. from Colgate University and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Boston University.  Outside of work, Lauren enjoys both water and snow sports with her husband and sons.  She is also an active volunteer in the Andover Public School district, where her children currently attend elementary school.
