Simon Rands
Project Geologist
Simon, a native of the Catskill Mountains region in Upstate New York, came to the Boston area to attend Tufts University, graduating summa cum laude in 2025 with a BS in Environmental Geology and a minor in Computer Science. He gained experience with the Woodstock Land Conservancy, overseeing maintenance and stewardship of protected lands in the area of Woodstock, NY, through native species support, invasive species removal, and public trail upkeep. As someone who enjoys anything that can bring him outside, and with a background in geology, environmental consulting was a natural fit for a career choice.
Since he began at Cooperstown, he has contributed to a variety of consulting assignments including well installation oversight; groundwater, soil, and vapor sampling; monitoring and surveying; and Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) following the ASTM Standard.
Simon loves to spend his time outdoors in New Hampshire or in the Middlesex Fells Reservation, hiking or hammocking, as well as playing soccer, watching sports, listening to music, and reading.
